Why Design Sushi?

Why Design Sushi? Well, besides my love for both, sushi provides an interesting analogy to my personal design approach. Sushi is clean, simple and light….yet unconventional, perplexing and beautiful. Good sushi requires the use of the finest ingredients. A successful designer requires high quality ingredients as well: state of the art technology, cognizance of design trends and capabilities, an understanding of the industry for which you’re designing, and most of all, the ability to create influential and appropriate design.

Sushi never makes good leftovers; Design, too, can go stale.

Sometimes it’s the simplest rolls that taste best; Good design requires the restraint of over-designing.

Sushi and sake work in tandem; As do design and copy.

A nice sticky rice is essential; Packaging is important. Always judge a book by its cover.

Presentation is everything; There’s a reason they serve sushi on those clean, white or bamboo platters.
